Now in store: The Balance - Catfish and the Bottleman

Originally released in 2014, this is the Welsh band’s debut album and the one that really kicked everything off for them. The Balance is full of tight, no-nonsense indie rock - fast, loud, and made for shouting along to. The record pulls heavily from early 2000s British guitar music, with punchy riffs, big choruses, and lyrics that lean into youth, relationships, and that restless, going-nowhere-fast feeling.

Featuring tracks like “Kathleen,” “Cocoon,” “Homesick,” and “Pacifier,” this album became a staple for indie fans and helped set the tone for the band’s later releases. If you’re into energetic, straightforward guitar records that don’t overthink it, this one still hits just as hard.

In store now on vinyl.
