Released in 1990, the album saw The KLF (Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty) step away from their chart-friendly acid house hits to create something completely different: a continuous late-night listening experience designed to be played as one long journey rather than a collection of separate songs. Blending ambient textures, field recordings, radio samples, and hazy Americana imagery, Chill Out feels like an overnight drive across the American South.

The record became hugely influential in shaping ambient house and the chill-out rooms that were central to early rave culture. With much of The KLF’s catalogue later deleted by the band themselves, physical copies have become favourites among collectors and longtime fans alike.
