In store now: The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa on vinyl.

Formed in Prague in 1991, The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa are a key name in early ’90s shoegaze and dream pop, blending thick, swirling guitar layers with airy vocals and hypnotic rhythms. The band was led by guitarist Jan P. Muchow, who later became a respected composer and producer, and they quickly stood out for their darker, more atmospheric take on the genre.

Their early releases earned attention well beyond the Czech Republic, with support from international radio and the underground press at a time when few bands from the region were being heard abroad. The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa helped shape a post-communist alternative scene and remain a cult favorite for fans of My Bloody Valentine-era shoegaze, ambient textures, and left-field ’90s indie.

On the shelf now for anyone looking to add a dreamy, influential record to their collection.
